ACLU and Lambda Legal sue for gender-segregated marriage in Illinois

Believing that gender-segregated marriage should be legalized and that children have no right to both a mother and a father, the  American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal filed lawsuits in Illinois to legalize single-sex marriage.

According to ABC News, ACLU plaintiff Tanya Lazaro says civil unions are not good enough:
"It's not the same thing as a marriage. We want our relationship, our love and our commitment we've shown for 15 years to be recognized like everybody else's," Lazaro said. "When you're growing up, you don't dream of civil unions."
Meanwhile Lambda Legal represents Janean Watkins who seeks social approval for her relationship because it’s important to kids.

"We have the kids, it's important for them to see that the relationship we're in is validated by the state.”
They want state approval?  They want to be assured that gender-segregated “marriage” is absolutely equivalent to gender-integrated marriage?
But it isn’t.  Gender matters.
