Homosexuals who are joined in same-sex “marriages” have been given their own icon on Facebook.
Now, when same-sex couples go through a wedding ceremony, their timeline will display an image of two men or two women instead of a cartoonish heterosexual married couple.
The move came a little over a year after the company allowed users to change their relationship status to “in a civil union: or “in a domestic partnership."
Allison Palmer, vice president of campaigns and programs at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), said the matching blue brides or grooms “are another important way for same-sex couples to be recognized.”
