Methodists vote to believe Bible on homosexuality

The United Methodist Church upheld its understanding that  homosexual behavior is “incompatible with Christian teaching.”

At Thursday’s convention, delegates voted 61% to 39% to retain their interpretation of the Bible.

After more than an hour of passionate debate and clear disagreement, two items stating Christians have different opinions about homosexuality were not approved by the 2012 General Conference, leaving the original language in the Book of Discipline intact.
The Book of Discipline, Paragraph 161F states: “The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and considers this practice incompatible with Christian teaching.”
Love means never having to say a lie

Church leaders urged members to love their neighbors without lying to them.
“We disagree, and we do need tolerance, but for some, tolerance means all beliefs are equal, and that is not true,” said the Rev. Jim Cowart, delegate from South Georgia Annual (regional) Conference. “We love you just like you are, and we love you enough to tell you what scriptures say.”
Respect for tradition and Scripture was boosted by a growing number of global members of the Christian church who attended the conference.

The New York Times reports:
An influx of non-American members has even bolstered the conservatives. The United Methodist Church is the largest mainline Protestant denomination in the United States, but its American membership has declined to about 7.8 million in recent years. Meanwhile, its membership abroad has grown to about 4.4 million, mostly in Africa and the Philippines, where homosexuality is not accepted.
This year about 40 percent of the nearly 1,000 delegates to the Methodist general conference are from outside the United States — an increase of more than 10 percent from the last conference, in 2008.

Gay rights activists disrupted the meeting.  When they refused to leave, the meeting ended early.

Women don’t need husbands—they have President Obama!

“Under President Obama: Julia decides to have a child.”

Really?

Team Obama came out with a campaign ad designed to entice women with cradle-to-grave government.  The Life of Julia chronicles several ways the Obama administration plans to channel benefits to women.  From Head Start at age 3 to “free” surgery in college (perhaps one of the most common medical procedures in the US:  an abortion) and then, when she’s older:  Medicare and Social Security, both of which continue to thrive in this cartoon, despite our national debt.

One example of Obama's beneficence:  “Thanks to Obamacare, her health insurance is required to cover birth control and preventive care, letting Julia focus on her work rather than worry about her health.”  But by delaying motherhood to age 31, Julia has inadvertently increased her likelihood for infertility.  Especially if she’s been on the Pill which floods her body with Group 1 carcinogens every month.

My favorite benefit:  “Under President Obama:  Julia decides to have a child.”

Under the prez?  Who writes this stuff?  A highly-paid advertising firm, or some high school computer whizzes who hacked this into the BarackObama website for a laugh?

There is no mention of Julia’s husband.  It's as if Obama couldn't decide whether Julia married a guy or a girl, (he hasn't finished "evolving" on same-sex marriage), so he just left the spouse out of the story.  So we don’t know if Julia conceived the organic way or if she used in vitro fertilization, which, no doubt, was also paid for by Daddy-O.

In this nifty cartoon slideshow, the Redistributor-in-Chief has unveiled his new One Child No Husband Policy and declared War on Men, who have been virtually eliminated.  Much to the dismay of David Harsanyi who wrote a commentary with the excellent title:  “Who the hell is ‘Julia’ and why am I paying for her whole life?”

This ad just made the GOP’s job easier.  They don’t have to come up with their own campaign spots; they can just link to “The Life of Julia” to show Americans why they should vote for Romney.

I can’t wait for the launch of the Julia Spoof.  In the meantime, I’m going to have a few laughs watching Julia grow up again in Obamaland.

Update:  Julia spoofs are here!

Happy Mother’s Day when you have two dads!

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Huffington Post seeks stories from LGBT kids about their moms:
So, in honor of Mother's Day 2012, HuffPost Gay Voices will be focusing on the unique relationship many moms have with their LGBT kids -- and we'd like to hear from you!
Send us a photo of you with your mother, along with a short (6 lines or less) anecdote about why your relationship is special.
What if you have two dads but you don’t know who your mother is?  Not to worry, you’re included in this Mother’s Day celebration also!  Just borrow one!
And it needn't be your biological mom -- if you have a stepmother or another mother figure who has played a significant role in your life, please tell us about her!
Mothers are special and excluded!
The whole premise of same-sex marriage is that two dads are equivalent to one mother and one father.  But then gay rights supporters claim, “our mothers mean more to us now than ever before . . . moms are, and have always been, special.”
If mothers are so important, why intentionally deprive children of them?  If motherhood is so “special” why exclude it from male same-sex households?
A vote for same-sex marriage is a vote to deprive children of their mothers.
Advocates claim they support single-sex marriage because of love, commitment, tolerance and equality.  But in a monogender male "marriage," where is the love, commitment and tolerance for women and mothers?  And how is depriving a child of her mother a form of "equality"?

How do you expect children to have a Happy Mother's Day when they live with two dads but their mother is excluded?

It Gets Worse Project: Video of Dan Savage anti-Pope rant

From anti-Bible to anti-Pope, sex advice columnist Dan Savage rants again, demonstrating that when it comes to this anti-bullying czar, It Doesn't Get Better . . . It Gets Worse.

Thanks to Americans for Truth for posting Savage's speech from Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel at Elmhurst College on April 29.

WARNING:  Savage uses offensive and graphic language and content to make his points:

Savage claimed, "What the Pope is saying is that the only thing that stands between my d*** and Brad Pitt's mouth is a piece of paper."  Savage continued:  "The Pope is projecting.  He clearly meant nobody's straight.  Not the Pope, not anybody else."

Savage has previously accused Rick Santorum of being gay as well.  Savage's obsession with Santorum led to the infamous Google bomb of Santorum's name.  His logic is that because Santorum and the Pope talk about gays, they must have repressed homosexual desires.

Using Savage logic, continually attacking Santorum and the Pope would proove that Savage is a closet Catholic.

But don't blame him; he was born that way.

The Blaze has more details about the offensive speech, including conservative activist Peter LaBarbera being ousted from the free and public event attended by 1,200.

President Obama already alienated Catholics with his anti-religious Obamacare ruling forcing Americans to fund abortifacients and sterilizations.  This clip is one more reason why the president might want to distance himself from Dan Savage and from same-sex marriage.

Video: Volunteers attacked for defending pro-gender marriage

TFP Student Action reports:

In this newly released video, volunteers with the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) describe how they were violently assaulted by pro-homosexual "marriage" advocates while promoting traditional marriage on college campuses and in the public square.

"That empty slogan about tolerance comes crashing down after you see how TFP volunteers were criminally assaulted by same-sex 'marriage' advocates," said TFP Student Action Director John Ritchie.
In fact, our volunteers have been bullied, pepper sprayed, hit with glass bottles, sprayed with pesticide, punched, and spit on for peacefullystating that marriage iswhat it is – the union between one man and one woman."

And yet same-sex marriage advocates say it's all about love and commitment.

Elderly woman attacked for supporting gender integration in marriage

The battle for gender-integration in marriage gets physical.

An elderly woman was cursed at and physically attacked by a “gay” man who disagreed with her views on pro-gender marriage and Amendment One.

Vote4MarriageNC reported on Facebook:
UPDATE: An elderly woman has filed a police report in Lumberton charging a man with aggravated assault. While looking for her sister, she claims the individual had committed a hate crime by physically assaulting her during an argument over her position on the marriage amendment. In her police report she claims the man was verbally harassing her over her marriage position, and then proceeded to prevent her from leaving. She also claims the man slammed her back with the car door 4-5 times while she tried to escape.
The elderly woman’s injury was noted by the deputy at the police department.

NOM provided a link to the police report.

"How does same-sex marriage affect your marriage?"

Same-sex marriage advocates like to pose this question to disregard and divert attention away from legitimate concerns that SSM will change the culture significantly.  The aggravated assault of this elderly woman is one more example of how SSM affects all of society, not just the people who want to marry within their own gender.

'One of the most outrageous, speech-chilling bills' in California

“I can honestly say this is one of the most outrageous, speech-chilling bills we have ever seen in California - and that’s saying a lot.”  Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute

A California committee catered to the gay agenda in a 5-3 vote to ban therapy for patients seeking help with unwanted same-sex attraction, calling such counseling “therapeutic deception.”

Lifesitenews reports:
While banning outright such therapy for minors regardless of consent, Senate Bill 1172, introduced by the openly homosexual Senator Ted Lieu and backed by Equality California, makes it an actionable offense for a mental health professional to conduct such therapy with a consensual client “by means of therapeutic deception.” The offense can be brought to court by “a patient, former patient, or deceased former patient’s parent, child, or sibling,” with an eight-year statute of limitations for patients and five years for relatives.
The bill defines “therapeutic deception” as “a representation by a psychotherapist that sexual orientation change efforts ... can or will reduce” homosexual conduct or desire.
The bill further requires psychotherapists to hand clients a disclaimer sheet that states: “Having a lesbian, gay, or bisexual sexual orientation is not a mental disorder. There is no scientific evidence that any types of therapies are effective in changing a person’s sexual orientation. Sexual orientation change efforts can be harmful. The risks include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, and self-destructive behavior.”

Ironically, the risks they list mirror the risks associated with homosexuality itself.

Lifesitenews pointed out that longitudinal studies document success for a majority of patients seeking therapy for unwanted same-sex attraction, despite the claim by gay rights activists that such therapy is ineffective.
A longitudinal study published last September found that a majority of individuals who persevered with sexual orientation therapy met with success, and that there was no increase in psychological stress associated with the therapy. The study backs the findings of a meta-analysis published in 2009, using over 600 professional and client reports published in peer-reviewed journals over a 100-year span, which concluded that homosexuality could be changed and that therapy to that end could be beneficial.
If we must call counseling to help patients with their unwanted sexual attractions “therapeutic deception,” what do we call gender reassignment surgery?  Gender deception?  What about abortion?  Fertility deception?  The Pill could be labeled hormonal deception and same-sex marriage:  cultural deception.

Same-sex ex-couple must split sperm

“I award seven sperm straws to the claimant, J.C.M., and six sperm straws to the respondent.”  Justice Loryl Russell
British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Loryl Russell decided that sperm should be considered property and divided as evenly as possible between a sparring same-sex ex-couple.
Vancouver Sun reports:
"A lesbian couple from British Columbia divided all their assets when they broke up in 2006 but forgot about 13 tubes of sperm that were being stored in a sperm bank.
The sperm came from the same male donor, and was used for each of the women to have a baby -- the first in 2000, and the second in 2002.The remainder of the donation was forgotten, left in sperm straws in the Genesis Fertility Clinic.
But trouble emerged in 2009, when one of the women, known as J.C.M., met a new partner and wanted to have another baby. J.C.M. asked her former spouse, known as A.N.A., for permission to use the left-over sperm so she and her new spouse could have a baby biologically related to her first child.
A.N.A. considered the request carefully, but replied that she would rather the sperm be destroyed.
That prompted J.C.M. to go to court to fight for ownership of the sperm, leading to a jdgment released today by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Loryl Russell.
A.N.A's lawyer, Georgialee Lang, argued there is no federal or provincial legislation, or any Canadian case law, that treats sperm as property."She argues the issue of treating sperm as property is a moral one," Russell wrote.
Lang cited an academic expert, Dr. Bonnie Steinbock, who says there are three moral issues with treating sperm as property: posthumous reproduction, commercialization of reproduction, and treating the body as a commodity.
Russell noted this was an emotional quandary, but that she decided the sperm donation should be considered property for several reasons, one of them that the donated sperm had always been treated as property: by the donor, by the U.S. clinic, by the Vancouver sperm bank, and by the former couple."
Women buying sperm.  Anonymous donors.  Children deprived of dads.

It's a Grave New World.

More on Dan Savage: It Gets Worse for Obama?

Will President Obama try to distance himself from gay rights activist Dan Savage who called high school students “pansy a**ed” and told them parts of the Bible were “bullsh**”?
President Obama’s administration has focused heavily on ending childhood bullying. So why would the Obama administration get behind an anti-bullying organization headed by one of America’s most vulgar, extreme bullies?
The Obama Administration has placed significant support behind the so-called It Gets Better Project. The White House has devoted a specific section of the WhiteHouse.gov website to the Project. President Obama, Vice President Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and many other administration officials have cut videos on behalf of the Project.
This is the same Dan Savage who spoke at the National High School Journalism Conference last week, where he ripped into the Bible and called religious students “pansy-assed” for walking out on him.
But there’s much more to Dan Savage than just anti-religious bullying. He’s one of the biggest bullies on the planet. And he’s the point person the White House specifically chose – and fundraised for – in order to push their anti-bullying agenda.
 Now, it’s not as though the White House was ignorant of the fact that the It Gets Better Project is run by Savage. On the contrary – search the White House website for Savage’s name, and two It Gets Better links come up. Not just that – in June 2011, Savage himself visited the White House and hung out with Administration officials;
Savage has gone from the It Gets Better Project to It Gets Worse Project
After this anti-religious tirade, Savage might have a Google problem of his own.
For more examples of why Savage might not be the most appropriate keynote speaker for high school students, watch his foul-mouthed, strong-arm tactics on display at Breitbart.com.
EXTREME LANGUAGE WARNING - This is the man the Obama Administration has aligned themselves with by embracing the hypocritical "It Gets Better" anti-bullying campaign. Watch Dan Savage bully people he doesn't agree with by using the most vile, disgusting and offensive tactics.

NSPA defends speech by Dan Savage, says cursing teens and Bible is ‘thoughtfulness and deliberation’

Do teens really need to know how hot Dan Savage's partner looks in a Speedo?

The National Scholastic Press Association defended Dan Savage’s keynote  address in which he called teens “pansy-a**ed” and called certain Bible passages “bullsh**.”

As a gay rights activist, Savage expects others to treat LGBT teens with love, tolerance, and respect.  But Bible-whumper Savage chose to act hateful, intolerant, and disrespectful to high school students in his audience. Ironically, the topic of Savage's speech was bullying.

The NSPA did not apologize to the insulted teens and chose instead to defend Savage’s provoking speech.

Fox News reports:

The executive director of the National Scholastic Press Association provided Fox News with joint statement from the Journalism Education Association that was sent to members – after a number of people complained about Savage’s remarks.
“We appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and deliberation regarding Dan Savage’s keynote address,” the NSPA wrote. “some audience members who felt hurt by his words and tone decided to leave in the middle of his speech, and to this, we want to make our point very clear: While as a journalist it’s important to be able to listen to speech that offends you, these students and advisers had simply reached their tolerance level for what they were willing to hear.”
The NSPA said they did not have a prior transcript of Savage’s speech and that wish “he had stayed more on target for the audience of teen journalists.” They also said it provided a “teachable moment” for students.
As for Savage’s attack on people of faith?
“While some of his earlier comments were so strongly worded that they shook some of our audience members, it is never the intent of JEA or NSPA to let students get hurt during their time at our conventions,” they wrote.
However, not once did the NSPA or the JEA offer any apologies to the students or faculty advisors or anyone else in attendance.

Can you imagine the outrage gay rights activists would display if an adult speaker had called a group of LGBT teens “pansy a**ed”?  Would the NSPA describe that as “thoughtfulness”?

What Savage taught future journalists is that bullying the LGBT community is bad, but to bully Jews and Christians is righteous.

Video of Dan Savage 'beating up the Bible' and calling high school believers 'pansy a**ed'

Savage goes from It Gets Better Project to It Gets Worse

At a High School Journalism Convention in Seattle, gay rights activist Dan Savage bashed the Bible saying "We can learn to ignore the bullsh** in the Bible about gay people."

Several students walked out quietly and calmly.  A couple minutes later, Savage said, "You can tell the Bible guys in the hall they can come back now 'cause I'm done beating up the Bible."

Excerpts:
"People often point out that they can't help the anti-gay bullyings; it says right there [in the Bible] that being gay is wrong."
"We can learn to ignore the bullsh** in the Bible about gay people the same we have learned to ignore the bullsh** in the Bible about shellfish, about slavery, about dinner, about farming, about menstruation, about virginity, about masturbation."
The Bible "is a radically pro-slavery document."
Since the Bible got slavery wrong, "what are the odds that the Bible got something as complicated as human sexuality wrong?  One hundred per cent."
"You can tell the Bible guys in the hall they can come back now 'cause I'm done beating up the Bible.  It's funny that someone who's on the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible how pansy a**ed some people react when you push back.  I apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings, but I have a right to defend myself and to point out the hypocrisy of people who justify anti-gay bigotry by pointing to the Bible and insisting we must live by the code of Leviticus on this one issue and no other."

Savage thinks that calling high school students "pansy a**ed" is the best way to prevent bullying?  Is "beating up the Bible" conducive to creating a dialogue between gay rights activists and people of religion?

Savage prompted the creation of the It Gets Better Project which "was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach--if they can just get through their teen years."

Unfortunately, by calling high school students "pansy-a**ed," Savage showed teens who don't agree with him that It Gets Worse.
