Stuck in a same-sex marriage: is there a ‘right’ to divorce?

You know that ubiquitous question:  How will same-sex marriage affect your marriage?

Well, some gender-segregated couples are discovering they are stuck in an unwanted marriage.

Why is divorce elusive for gender-exclusive couples?

CNN explains:

Same-sex couples can currently marry in six states and the District of Columbia, and there's no residency requirement to marry. That means that couples who live outside of those states can just pop in for a day to get married and then go home. There are also five states that allow civil unions. But if a marriage should fall apart in a state that doesn't recognize the couple's legal status in the first place, that's when things get complicated.
Some states that do not allow same-sex marriages to be performed also do not grant divorces for same-sex marriages that occurred outside of the state's borders. It's a tricky situation when a couple wants to dissolve their same-sex marriage, and neither spouse is a resident of a state that recognizes their marriage as legal and valid.
To satisfy the residency requirements, under these circumstances, you'd have to live in a state for six months to two years -- depending on local laws -- in order to get a divorce from a same-sex partner, said Susan Sommer, director of constitutional litigation at Lambda Legal, which represented Cowan.

This is one more reason to support standard marriage laws throughout the land.  For example, the Defense of Marriage Act.

New Mexico rules homosexuals can discriminate against gender but heterosexuals can’t

Photographers in New Mexico who declined to photograph the “commitment” ceremony of a gender-segregated couple were fined $7,000.  The New Mexico Court of Appeals affirmed the pricey punishment.

What this means is that in New Mexico, it is fine for women with same-sex attraction to discriminate against men when choosing a partner, but it costs businesses $7,000 to decline to photograph gender-segregated  couples.

A ruling from Judge Tim L. Garcia in the New Mexico Court of Appeals says states can require Christians to violate their faith in order to do business, affirming a penalty of nearly $7,000 for a photographer who refused to take pictures at a lesbian “commitment” ceremony in the state where same-sex “marriage” was illegal.
Judges Cynthia Fry and James Wechsler joined in the ruling by Garcia, which involved Elane Photography, whose owners, Elaine and Jonathan Huegeunin, are Christians and declined to do photography for lesbians Vanessa Willock and another woman. The women complained under the state’s anti-discrimination requirements and a state commission, the New Mexico Human Rights Commission, imposed the penalty, which now has been affirmed by the appeals court judges. The judges explained in the 45-page ruling that the photography company is a “public accommodation” and those cannot discriminate under state law based on “sexual orientation.”
In other words, it's fine for Vanessa Willock to discriminate against men and choose a female partner, but if photographers decline to do business with a gender-segregated couple, they are guilty of discrimination.  The crazy thing about laws protecting "sexual orientation" is that they give sexual desire, which is fluid, more weight than sexual gender, which is inherent.
“The owners of Elane Photography must accept the reasonable regulations and restrictions imposed upon the conduct of their commercial enterprise despite their personal religious beliefs that may conflict with these governmental interests,” the judges wrote.
Officials with the Alliance Defense Fund, which has been representing Elane, said there would be an appeal.
“Americans in the marketplace should not be subjected to legal attacks for simply abiding by their beliefs,” said ADF Senior Counsel Jordan Lorence. “Should the government force a videographer who is an animal rights activist to create a video promoting hunting and taxidermy? Of course not, and neither should the government force this photographer to promote a message that violates her conscience. Because the Constitution prohibits the state from forcing unwilling artists to promote a message they disagree with, we will certainly appeal this decision to the New Mexico Supreme Court.”
This is more proof that single-sex marriage infringes on freedom of religion.

Redefining families and fatherhood: ‘Donorsexual’ saves himself for free sperm donations

This guy manages to redefine fatherhood, families, free love, virginity, and ick.

The Daily Mail has the report plus photos of Arsenault and some of his 16 children:

"He has never even kissed a woman, but 36-year-old Trent Arsenault is possibly the world's most prolific sperm donor, having fathered 16 children.
Now he has committed to donating his ultra-potent sperm to more than 100 families - and says he could have 'literally hundreds of children in the near future'.
The American technology expert, who brands himself has the world's first 'donorsexual' has even sworn himself to a life of celibacy to maintain his spectacular sperm count - despite often receiving propositions from women.

Mr Arsenault, from Fremont California, has a strict regime involving 'fertility smoothies' made of berries and nuts, regular exercise and wearing loose clothing, meaning his sperm is four times as powerful as the average man's.

Mr Arsenault first donated sperm in 2006 after a lesbian couple saw an advert he had placed. He has gone on to donate to dozens of families, and 16 children have been born with three more on the way.

He is in regular contact with the families he donates sperm to and has even met four of the children he helped conceive.

His home donation method, where couples come to his house while he produces fresh sperm, has proved popular among lesbian couples, with one couple even flying out from France.

After he hands a woman his 'collection cup', she uses a syringe to inseminate herself in Mr Arsenault's home. Despite not having a day job due to the stress lowering his fertility, he refuses to charge for the service.

However, not everyone approves of the service he provides. Mr Arsenault's evangelical parents, have called him a 'sinner', and he is being threatened by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration threatened him with a $100,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

He was also outed for posting more than 100 lewd videos on pornographic websites of him pleasuring himself into cups.

Not all of the couples who have become pregnant thanks to his sperm know about his porn life, but he is not ashamed of what he does and said there is no need to advertise his extra work to couples.

Bishop of Shrewsbury calls marriage 'foundation of the family'

Roman Catholic Bishop of Shrewsbury Mark Davies defended pro-gender marriage calling it “the very foundation of the family.”

"Today we see a government, without mandate, disposing of any credible consultation, seeking to impose one of the greatest acts of ‘social engineering’ in our history in uprooting the legal definition of marriage. Marriage lies at the very foundation of the family.
For all generations to come one generation of politicians sets out to demolish in the name of an ‘equality agenda’ the understanding of marriage that has served as the timeless foundation for the family.
"The Government is seeking to do this at the very moment when marriage as an institution has been more weakened than ever before. Yet it asks: why are people of faith concerned?”
Bishop Davies added: “So far from weakening and confusing the foundation of the family we invite our political leaders to give back to the institution of marriage and the family the recognition and confidence it deserves.”
