Judgment is a ‘favorite gay hobby’?

“Judgment, a favorite gay hobby, factors in, too.”  Brooks Barnes

Isn’t that just a wee bit bigoted?

At least it's a self-validating judgment.

In a New York Times article about gay wedding fatigue, Brooks Barnes asserts that people with same-sex attraction like to critique weddings.
Judgment, a favorite gay hobby, factors in, too. A lot of my friends, for instance, think it’s weird for two men who have been together for 30 years to have a big, traditional wedding. In the opposite extreme, it’s hard not to worry when new boyfriends decide to leap into marriage.

Judging would certainly be difficult to avoid if you attend a wedding like this one:
Mr. Shields, who has been invited to five gay weddings and has a sixth coming up, recalls two men who married in an art gallery filled with S-and-M paintings.
“One was a picture of a naked George Washington dwarf standing on top of a pile of slave dwarfs in fetish gear,” he said. “All I could think was, ‘Oh, please, no — we have moms in the room.’ ”

And after waiting so long to redefine marriage to include gender-exclusive couples, people  are grappling with gay wedding fatigue.
“The equality people will have a fit about this, but I’ll say it anyway: I have gay-wedding burnout,” Mr. Shields, 35, said one day this spring.
Parties won’t end with the gay wedding boomlet.  What's next…
“Oh, just wait,” he said. “We’re now on the other side of the gay-wedding bubble with our friends. You know what’s there? I call it death by gay baby shower.”

Elton John: ‘It’s going to be heartbreaking for him to grow up and realise he hasn’t got a mummy’

Daily Mail has the scoop on Sir Elton John:

But the flamboyant star, now enjoying life as the parent of a toddler, has admitted it will be ‘heartbreaking’ for Zachary to grow up without a mother.

The singer, 65, and his civil partner David Furnish, were delighted when Zachary arrived on Christmas Day 2010.

Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John – to give him his full name – was born via surrogate in California and was conceived using a donor egg.

Sir Elton and Mr Furnish, 49, have made it no secret that they want to have another child, and may start trying to father a sibling for Zachary this summer.

Sir Elton confessed: ‘It’s going to be heartbreaking for him to grow up and realise he hasn’t got a mummy.
The Daily Mail also reports that breast milk was couriered daily from the surrogate mother to Zachary when he was a newborn.

Although Elton John believes it will be "heartbreaking" for his son to grow up without a mother, he and his partner are both in the market for a new surrogate mother for another child.  Furnish said, "If we found a surrogate who is half as beautiful as our first, we would be very lucky."

Question:  Is it possible to hire a surrogate mother without exploiting her as a gender object?

DNC chair expects same-sex marriage to be plank in Democrat party

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz expects gender-segregated marriage to be officially approved at this year’s convention in Charlotte, NC in September.

Calling it "marriage equality," Wasserman Schultz believes promoting rights for gender-exclusive couples “is another chapter in our civil-rights history.”

“I expect marriage equality to be a plank in the national party platform. President Obama has declared his support for it ... Now, our platform committee process is a people-powered process. We have a platform committee and the platform is developed by our Democratic activists and the platform committee members, so they’ll go through a process. I hope that marriage equality, and expect that marriage equality, will be part of our platform.”
Although the “separate but equal” mentality didn’t work well to ensure school equality for blacks, Democrats now believe it will work to separate genders in marriage?

Since when did separation become equality?

Video: Poor women in India paid to be surrogate mothers

As others have noted, an increase in same-sex marriage triggers business for surrogate mothers, especially in poor nations such as India.

How ethical is it to take advantage of poor women and use their bodies in this way?

Does same-sex marriage lead to exploitation of poor women in other countries?

Will the increase in same-sex marriage lead to the exploitation of poor women in other countries?
Michael Cook spells it out for us in his article, “The link between rented wombs and gay marriage” at MercatorNet:
If marriage leads to children, same-sex marriage must inevitably lead to surrogacy and exploitation.
A TV show called The New Normal will have its premiere on NBC in the US soon. It's about a gay couple and the single mother they engage to have their baby.
"She's just like an easy-bake oven except with no legal rights to the cupcake," the surrogate-mother broker tells Bryan and David. This is a hard-nosed description of the woman's role in gay marriage and child-rearing, but it sums it up accurately.
A leading US infertility doctor, Jeffrey Steinberg, who runs the Fertility Institutes in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, told BioEdge he got a surge of inquiries whenever a jurisdiction legalised gay marriage. At the moment he uses only carefully screened American surrogates, but he is thinking of outsourcing their jobs to Mexico.
Supporters of same-sex marriage must recognise they face a serious moral dilemma. Cheap wombs might bring gay men the happiness of being the father of a child of their own. But the cost of that happiness is often borne by poor and uneducated women.

One more reason to support pro-gender marriage.

More on Flandersgate: Judge backs MassResistance right to post letter from sex offender

Flandersgate update
At what point will Adam Flanders realize that the more he sues, the more he'll be in the news?
If Flanders wants to keep his 2007 letter on the down low, slapping pro-family organizations and threatening news agencies with time-consuming and expensive lawsuits might not be the most effective method.
A convicted sex abuser who has filed a one million dollar suit against the pro-family group Mass Resistance suffered a setback last week when his motion for a preliminary injunction to silence the group was rejected by the presiding judge.
“Maine may not punish, through criminal sanction, an individual’s actions that are protected by the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution,” wrote District Judge Patricia G. Worth in her decision, signed on July 11.
Meanwhile, a police chief that Adam E. Flanders has repeatedly claimed supported his lawsuit and described his sex abuse charge as akin to “stealing a candy bar” has disputed Flanders’ account of events in a LifeSiteNews (LSN) interview. LSN has also learned that in addition to the sex abuse charge, Flanders has been convicted of assaulting a minor with whom he had a sexual relationship, as well as the boy’s father, with a knife.

Flandersgate: Sex offender sues Brian Camenker of MassResistance

Flandersgate
Convicted sex offender Adam Flanders sued Brian Camenker for refusing to remove a public letter from the MassResistance website.
MassResistance reports:
A homosexual activist and convicted sex offender who spent time in jail for sexually molesting a teenage boy has filed a $1 million lawsuit against Brian Camenker of MassResistance. The lawsuit is an attempt to stop MassResistance's publication of a graphic exposé of a "gay youth" organization, describing drug use, pornography, sexual activity between men and boys, and other activities at the organization's events -- which the activist himself wrote and distributed.
In January 2007, Flanders wrote a letter explaining what went on at the youth group, OUT.
"During my time at OUT meetings, my boyfriend [JL] and I would oftentimes sneak down to the restrooms in the lower part of the building to have sex, beginning when he was 14 and I was 18 -- mostly because his father disapproved of our relationship and these meetings were our only opportunity to do this. We did this on many occasions, and several of the other youth were aware of this fact and I wouldn't doubt that similar relations occurred between other members of OUT during our nightly meetings from 7 to 10 PM."
“Suicide threats and attempts have been a common part of our organization."
“Several of our OUT meetings were spent writing letters to seemingly every democrat in Knox county.”
Flanders wrote about sexual harassment, suicide scares, and negligent leaders.  He urged the authorities to investigate the organization:
“I am writing to you because I fear for the well-being of OUT youth members, especially now that meetings are being held 3 times more often and now in a private home rather than a public facility.  It is my hope that the Bureau of Health will do everything in their power to seriously investigate this seemingly innocent organization that has such a dark past full of negligence, irresponsibility, sexual harassment, abuse, and ultimately emotional harm that could leave permanent scars in the lives of many vulnerable youth in Maine, or even destroy their lives completely.”
Flanders has had a change of heart and now threatens to sue organizations that post his letter.
Late last year Flanders changed his mind and now wants the controversial letter removed from pro-family sites that have posted it. Flanders (and other homosexual activists) apparently realized that the letter -- in the hands of pro-family groups -- represents an important revelation about the "gay clubs" everywhere. So Flanders contacted every pro-family group that had it posted and threatened them with legal action unless they removed it. And they all caved in and removed it -- except MassResistance.
The family rights organization asserts that Flanders case could be copied by gay rights activists nationwide to silence opposition to the gay agenda. They wonder if this case will be a "template for more lawsuits across the country?"
This is not just about Camenker and MassResistance. Flanders' claims for damages appear to be a carefully crafted template for other homosexuals to use around the country against pro-family activists.
Flanders also threatened action against news outlet Lifesitenews for reporting his lawsuit and requesting an interview with him:
Responding to a July 14 interview request from LSN reporter Matthew Hoffman, Maine homosexual and registered sex offender Adam Flanders made various threats against LifeSiteNews. Flanders demanded the removal of the July 12 LSN news report regarding his lawsuit against the Mass Resistance organization, threatened to pursue litigation against LSN and noted that he has contacted LSN’s web hosting company with the result, he claims, that LSN will be removed from their servers.
From Fistgate to Flandersgate, MassResistance has been sued for protecting youth from the gay agenda.

Homoffendia is spreading as more and more businesses, organizations, and individuals are sued by gay rights activists.  Will Flanders' threats and lawsuits succeed in removing his 2007 letter from the world wide web?

Do Democrats have a vested interest in undermining marriage?

Studies consistently prove that marriage has many benefits.  Children fare better in intact homes.  Poverty rates for single-mother families are up to six times higher.  Married men are happier.
So why would anyone want to weaken the institution of marriage?  Why glorify unwed mothers?  Why promote gender-segregation in marriage?  Why cripple the successful welfare reform?
Because single Americans are more likely to vote for Democrats, while married people more often vote Republican.
John Zogby reports on Forbes:
Pollsters began to talk seriously about a gender gap in national elections in 1988 and, at times, the differences in voting and issues emphasis between men and women has often been striking. What doesn’t receive enough attention, however, is the even more dramatic “marriage gap” – how married voters and single voters see their world so differently. In an analysis provide by my colleagues at Gallup after the 2008 election, all married voters supported Senator John McCain over his Senate counterpart Barack Obama by a 12 point margin – 56% to 44%. Single voters favored Obama overwhelmingly by 30 points – 65% to 35%.
This “marriage gap” in voter preferences explains why Democrats have a conflict of interest when it comes to strengthening marriage.
Look at the Democrats’ dream voter:  Julia, a single mother, recipient of government handouts from the time she enters a Head Start program as a toddler to age 67 when she retires on Social Security. As a single woman, she is statistically likely to vote Democrat.
So even though marriage is good for society, Democrats dream of a nation of Julias.
Alone.
Voting for Democrats.

Australia oks same-sex couples rooming together but not married couple at London Olympics

Talk about reverse discrimination...
Australia decided married couple and Olympic shooters Russell and Lauryn Mark cannot room together at the 2012 London Olympics.  Mark claims they would be able to if they were gay.

Olympic shooter Russell Mark has suggested 'tons' of gay couples will be rooming together at the Olympic Village, while he and his wife sleep in separate apartments.

According to reports this morning, Russell Mark has been officially informed that he will not be able to room with his partner, Lauryn.
"The stupid part of this, which I have argued to them, is that there are tons of gay couples on the Olympic team who will be rooming together, so we are being discriminated against because we are heterosexual," Mark told News Limited.

Huffington Post  has more including controversial photo of Lauryn on magazine cover.

Video: 'The Piano Guys' surprise seniors with a Charlie Brown medley

“when there is so much in the world of art and entertainment that is dark and cynical, it comes almost as a surprise that a group would set out to make happiness their brand.
“Who doesn’t love being happy?” Steve replies to my question about the sources of their joy. “The best way I’ve found to be happy is to love others more than yourself, cherish relationships, pray often, and be grateful for what you have. It’s not always easy, but it’s lot easier for me when I fill my life with good music. The music we create is simply a ‘soundtrack’ of the joy we feel when we’re with our families, when we’re serving others, soaking in Earth’s beauty, or even just having a good laugh.”

1970s: when men were men and ladies were ladies and unisex was ugly

Did you survive the 70’s?
Take a walk down memory lane, thanks to BuzzFeed which compiled 25 fashion ads from the 1970’s.  From bell bottoms and jumpsuits to see-through lace and pointy collars, browse this visual torture if you dare.
Hotair notes:
One theme seems to dominate in these advertisements, some of which I dimly recall from my youth, and that is … androgyny.  It’s remarkable how the fashions for men and women look so much alike.  The US in this decade experienced enormous shifts in gender-role expectations, with the liberation of women and their rapid expansion in the workforce, so it’s not surprising that this social upheaval got reflected in fashion and popular culture.  As Buzzfeed puts these ads together, it’s not even very subtle.
Unisex styles were not liberating.  Far from elevating ladies from skirts and aprons, they lowered them into a hideous no-man’s land of polyester.  No wonder we grew up confused.
